The Viola Concerto was the final and unfinished composition by Béla Bartók. This piece by the Hungarian composer was finished by Tibor Serly, his friend and student, who wrote the last three missing bars. The composition won the hearts of the audiences and has been performed for many years by the best viola players in the world.
This piece by Bartók will resound for Szczecin music lovers owing to German-born ambassador of the viola, Tabea Zimmermann. She began to learn how to play the viola as early as the age of three. When she was 5, she began to learn how to play the piano. Graduating from the University of Salzburg, and winning numerous prizes at competitions in Geneva, Budapest and Paris, made her international career possible. Today she is not only an outstanding musician, but also a lecturer at the Music Academy in Berlin.
The soloist and the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by young Latvian conductor, Ainars Rubikis
