What unites the melodious character of the oboe and technical prowess of the flute? The answer to Janusz Ekiert's musical riddle is … the clarinet. Pieces written for this instrument will be heard in another chamber concert at the Szczecin Philharmonic.
Clarinet quintets were very popular compositions in the times of romanticism. The sound of the clarinet accompanied by string instruments in the piece by Carl Maria von Webber has a warm timbre. Ottorino Respighi has a similar atmosphere. This composer from the beginning of the 20th century moved towards Italian baroque and romanticism in his work. Ancient Airs and Dances is not only a contemporary piece dressed in period musical clothes, but is also inspiration taken literally.
Gustaw Bachorz, a young soloist studying at the Music Academy in Wrocław and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow, will perform before a Szczecin audience. He will be accompanied by the Szczecin Youth Chamber Orchestra – SMOK.
