They shared nothing other than their well-known name and love of music, which flourished in their homes and amazing careers.
Although he was the son of a famous composer, Johann Strauss learnt how to play the piano in secrecy from his father. As a grown-up man he composed marches, polkas and operettas. For many years, he had been directing balls at the Vienna court. He's the King of Waltzes. Johann's international fame followed him during his tour in Russia and the USA.
Richard Strauss received a thorough education from his father, who was a French horn player. His first compositions were inspired by the works of Schumann and Mendelssohn. Later the influence of Wagner was quite evident. The most important genre for him was songs, but he was also composed operas and symphonic poems.
The battle of the two music worlds of Johann Strauss and Richard Strauss on stage at the Szczecin Philharmonic will be hosted by Filip Jaślar, well-known violinist and entertainer, and member of the Group MoCarta.
