A Romanian woman, a Swiss man, a Pole and a Frenchman make up the Belcea Quartet, a world class chamber ensemble. The ensemble’s leader is violinist Corina Belcea, who helped to establish it in 1995 in London after an initiative by students of the Royal College of Music. Performing on stage for over two decades, the musicians have not only given concerts all around the world, but have also made fantastic strings quartet recordings of Schubert, Janáček, Bartók and Britten.
One of the most important projects of the ensemble is a transcontinental tour containing all of Beethoven's string quartets. One of these will be performed in front of the audience at the Szczecin Philharmonic. What's worth stressing is the fact that along with the Beethoven quartets, a new piece by maestro Krzysztof Penderecki will be played. His 4th String Quartet will be presented for the first time following its world premiere as part of the 21st Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival.
