“I am not really sure if the angels, when they praise God, play Bach. However, I am very sure that when they are alone, they play Mozart, and merciful God listens to this quite eagerly” – this is how the famous evangelistic theologian Karl Barth described the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Even though the anniversary of the genius Austrian composer's 261st birthday is not a round one, this fact cannot prevent Szczecin music lovers from celebrating.
Joy of the fact that over 250 years ago one of the greatest and most renowned composers of classical music was born, will accompany the audience during the concert. Overtures and arias from two unusually popular operas: “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Don Giovanni” will be played at the Szczecin Philharmonic. It is said that it took Mozart a mere 24 hours to write the overture to the latter one.
The birthday evening will be concluded with Symphony No. 41, strictly connected with the soundtrack to the Miloš Forman's motion picture “ Amadeus”. This is music trying to cross the boundaries of classicism, trying to go beyond the frames of the epoch being rational, pure, clear, balanced and harmonious at the same time.
