“My songs only lead a half-life, they pursue a black and white paper existence until music breathes life into them or awakens the things already lulled in them” – said poet Wilhelm Müller. His pieces resembled styled folk poetry, about the love of a travelling journeyman to a beautiful miller’s wife, and became the basis for Franz Schubert’s series of compositions. “Trokne Blumen” (“Dried Flowers”) is one of the last of his compositions presenting the tragic end of a feeling.
This composition by the song master will appear beside pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Aurelio Virgiliano and Jacob van Eyck. The final will feature a contemporary piece – the legendary 4’33 by John Cage. The musicians from Ensamble Klangrede will uncover for the listeners not only early chamber music, but also the meaning of silence in the world of music.
