Landesjugendorchester Berlin is an orchestra of young talent. It is made up of participants of the Music Competition ‘Jugend musiziert’ and Berlin musicians aged 14 – 21. Their enthusiasm and energy constitute their trademark! The young musicians, under the supervision of great tutors, master their skills and later take part in a short tournee, whose final takes place at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
The orchestra, which will be celebrating their 30th anniversary next year, focuses their repertoire most of all on pieces by classical and contemporary composers. So far, the young musicians have been heard in Poznań, Cracow, Prague, Moscow, Atlanta, Ankara, İzmir and Istanbul.
Each year a well-known conductor is invited to participate in the project, to later work with the orchestra. So far the ensemble has been conducted by Volker Wangenheim, Wolf-Dieter Hauschild, Lothar Königs, Peter Gülke, and Shi Yeon Sung. This year’s edition will be led by Ewa Strusińska, a symphony and opera conductor connected with the Philharmonic in Szczecin for two years.
Landesjugendorchester Berlin is a ticket to success. After this youth adventure, many musicians begin working in prestigious ensembles and in the greatest concert hall in the world. Szczecin audiences will hear compositions by Boris Blacher, Ludwig August Lebrun and Karol Szymanowski. Landesjugendorchester Berlin will perform together will the oboe soloist Jan Christian.
