Seventeen students from Northern German music academies took part in the second edition of the German Piano Competition of Polish Music. Young pianists from Bremen, Hannover, Hamburg, Lubeck and Weimar competed in July by performing composition by Chopin, Szymanowski, Paderewski and Leszetycki.
Their playing was judged by an international jury chaired by Adam Wibrowski from the Conservatory in Paris. Hyelee Chang from Lubeck is one of the six laureates of the competition, and will present herself in front of a Szczecin audience.
It’s worth mentioning that the German music academies attract pianists from all over the world. The participants of this years edition have come from nine countries, most of them from South Korea, Ukraine, Russia and China. The founder and artistic director of this event is professor Hubert Rutkowski – connected with the music school in Hamburg on an everyday basis.
