This is not the first time the Pomeranian Youth Big Band has visited the Philharmonic in Szczecin. The Orchestra consists both of students and professional musicians, which constitutes an artistic relay of generations. All thanks to Tomasz Licak, an artist who graduated from the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense and the Rytmisk Musikkonservatorium in Copenhagen. This is probably where he was infected with the idea of a youth-non-youth band functioning at an academy. The orchestra was established, which has been playing and working at the Academy of Art in Szczecin for some years now.
The programs of previous concerts were inspired by Polish and Scandinavian folklore. The listeners could explore the richness of the folk melodies from both regions in the big band arrangements (it turned out they have something in common). This time we will hear compositions by the young Bohemian jazz pianist Vita Kristan (who will also perform in the concert), who is famous for his musical marriages of Scandinavian, Czech, Polish and ... New Yorker elements. Lubos Soukup, in turn, according to a portal
muzyka.pl, is an"artist living in Scandinavia, a musician full of expression, an unusual composer, enthusiast of musical adventures. A leader of several successful international projects and a sensitive innovator. " So... Lech, Czech... and the Scandinavian.”
