In the early twentieth century, Gustav Mahler decided to create a composition based on five poems by Rückert. Thus was created the series of songs expressing the pain of losing the loved ones, of resignation and suffering.
Into the world of the profound and the Absolute will lead us the Irish mezzo-soprano Victoria Massey. Her expressive interpretations win audiences all over the world: from Covent Garden in London and the National Concert Hall in Dublin to the stages of Italy, Austria, Germany and Mexico.
The soloist and the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Julien Jean Leroy – a graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in Paris, the music director of Orchestres de Jeunes Alfred Loewenguth, finalist of the Arturo Toscanini International Competition for Conductors in 2008.
