The base of each orchestra is the so-called quintet: 1st violin, 2nd violin, violas, cellos and double basses. Stroked with the bow, plucked with fingers or struck with the stick – they are extremely rich in sound capabilities; the ability to play them is at the same time the most difficult to master. The concert entitled "#Strings" is aimed to bring to young listeners the repertoire devoted to these instruments – we will also include interesting facts about their construction and history.
Program includes selected excerpts from:
Béla Bartók – Rhapsody No. 1 for Violin and Orchestra Sz. 87
Niccolò Paganini – Moto Perpetuo C major, Op. 11
Johann Sebastian Bach – Concerto in D minor for Two Violins and Orchestra, BWV 1043
Henri Casadesus – Concerto in B minor in Händel Style for Viola and Orchestra
Antonín Dvořák – Rondo in G minor for Cello and Orchestra, Op. 94
Giovanni Bottesini – Concerto No. 2 in B minor for Double Bass and Orchestra
