Violins, cellos, two clarinets, four pianos, three marimbas, two xylophones and other percussions, as well as four female voices – such an ensemble is required by the composition "Music for 18 Musicians" by Steve Reich.
Inspired by West African drums and Indonesian gamelan (traditional music of Java and Bali), the piece is considered to be the finest work of mature minimalism. This very composition brought Reich the Grammy Award in 1976.
Kwadrofonik – the world's only quartet consisting of two duets: percussion and piano – will provide the harmony, a wealth of surprising sounds and new music experiences. The musicians are winners of "Polityka Magazine Passport" for 2014 (in the category of classical music).
