"Hands have their wisdom. As if they led. Music frees itself and lives its own life. And I remain alone" – says Leszek Możdżer. The left hand of the pianist will confront the famous Piano Concerto in D major by Maurice Ravel.
The song was commissioned by the Austrian artist Paul Wittgenstein, who lost his right hand during World War I. The left hand roams freely across the whole keyboard – we never feel that the performance by both hands would sound fuller. The precise and disciplined Ravel paradoxically appears close to Leszek Możdżer, known for the freedom of performance.
