You are invited to a unique chamber concert featuring the 2023/2024 season artists-in-residence of the Philharmonic – the vocal sextet proMODERN. Over the course of 10 years, the ensemble has become synonymous with the finest vocal music performances.
This evening, the artists will present an extraordinary program immortalized on the album proMODERN shakespired. As the title suggests, this album has been inspired by the works of the great British poet and playwright William Shakespeare.
For its realization, the proMODERN sextet invited the most prominent Polish composers: Krzysztof Herdzin, Krzesimir Dębski, Włodzimierz Pawlik, Paweł Łukaszewski, Tomasz Opałka, Dariusz Przybylski, Miłosz Bembinow, Maciej Zieliński, Andrzej Borzym Jr., as well as a special guest – Grammy laureate Philip Lawson. They have composed beautiful music to accompany Shakespeare's sonnets.
The album proMODERN shakespired was released by the prestigious Warner Classics label. The disc has been awarded two Fryderyk Awards in 2018 in the categories of Album of the Year – Contemporary Music and Most Outstanding Recording of Polish Music. On the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth, the project was endorsed by the British Council.
