It's already a tradition at the Philharmonic that every May, we take you into the world of the best film music. This time, on our concert menu: Harry Potter-a symphonic suite!
The suite that will open our concert consists of the most famous musical motifs from the Harry Potter films. It was composed by John Williams (born 1932), one of the most renowned film composers in history (with 56 Oscar nominations, including 5 wins).
After the intermission, we will return to the world of magic and wizards, thanks to more pieces of music. We will hear music from the acclaimed film How to Train Your Dragon, whose music was composed by John Powell (born 1963). He is the author of music for nearly 70 other films, for which he has been nominated multiple times for Grammy and Oscar awards.
This literally magical evening will conclude with the Symphonic Poem "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" by the French composer Paul Dukas (1865-1935). It is a work of programmatic music, meaning it has a specific theme. It is also the most famous and frequently performed piece by the French composer.
This evening of film music, the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra will be conducted by Maestra Maria Sydor, an outstanding young conductor who is assistant to the artistic director and principal conductor of the Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra.
