The sounds of oberkas from Brogowa, Radom, Szydłowiec, and other places in Poland will blend with Peruvian melodies, creating a unique, mesmerizing sound. From energetic dances to reflective moments, melodies discovered, memorized, and rediscovered in a unique way will combine two different musical traditions in which the main instigator and author of the project – percussionist Manolo Albán Juárez – has grown.
The concert Musica negra y blanca (meaning "black and white music") is the final instalment of this season's Rubato, a series presenting fascinating sounds from different corners of the world. The exceptional combination of instruments will emphasise the richness of sounds, creating a bridge between two distant worlds-different musical cultures. It will be an encounter with the music of Polish oberkas and Afro-Peruvian polyrhythms, taking you on an extraordinary sound journey.
