Especially for the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin, musical forces will be joined by the clarinet quartet Dance of Fire Quartet and Tomer Moked, a violist who creates film, experimental and ethnic music, residing in Berlin daily.
Dance of Fire is the first clarinet quartet in Poland specializing in folk music. The source of inspiration for the group is Balkan, klezmer and Polish music, which is the starting point for both their own compositions and new arrangements of traditional melodies. In addition to the sound of clarinets, the quartet's music also includes percussion and ethnic wind instruments. All this together creates the unique sound of Dance of Fire – a fiery blend of classic technique and Slavic energy. The collective's concerts are a mixture of Balkan energy, Polish spontaneity, lyricism and klezmer virtuosity. Traditional music themes often provoke improvisation, which makes each performance unique. The honesty of the message and the directness of folk music make it go straight to the audience's hearts.
Tomer Moked is a composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist (violin, guitar, oud, bouzouki, saz, mandolin). Born in São Paulo, Brazil, he has been living in Berlin since 2012. Moked is a founding member of the international Mediterranean folk group Baladino. He is also a theatre and film composer. He played in many different musical styles, from the Young Philharmonic Orchestra to jazz and rock bands, from an early age. Growing up in Israel, he became fascinated by diverse folk music from North Africa and the Middle East in a very diverse environment.
