A world-class star – Sharon Kam will perform at the Philharmonic in Szczecin. She will be accompanied by the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. The artist graduated from the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where she perfected the clarinet with Charles Neidich. As a 16-year-old, she made her stage debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta.
In 1992, she won the ARD International Music Competition. In 1998, she received the ECHO Klassik award as Instrumentalist of the Year for recording Weber's concerts with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Kurt Masur. In 2006 she was awarded again for an album recorded with the Leipzig Radio Orchestra with works by Spohr, Weber, Rossini and Mendelssohn. In addition, her 2002 album "American Classics", recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Gregor Bühl, received the German Record Critics Award.
Sharon Kam's performance of the Mozart concerto in celebration of Mozart's 250th anniversary in 2006 at the National Theater in Prague was broadcast live on TV in 33 countries and is available on DVD. The artist realized her dream of recording a Mozart concert and clarinet quintet in the same year.
During her career, Kam has performed with orchestras worldwide such as the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Gewandhaus Orchestra in Leipzig. In addition, she was an artist in residence at the Bodensee Festival in 2011.
Kam is also an active chamber musician and regularly collaborates with artists such as Lars Vogt, Christian Tetzlaff, Daniel Müller-Schott, Enrico Pace, Leif Ove Andsnes, Carolin Widmann and the Jerusalem Quartet. She is also a frequent guest of many festivals.
In the field of contemporary music, she has premiered many works, including a concerto and quartet by Krzysztof Penderecki and concerts by Herbert Willi (at the Salzburg Festival), Iván Eröd and Peter Ruzicki (in Donaueschingen).
In 1994, Sharon Kam married the conductor Gregor Bühl. They have three children and live permanently in Hanover. On the stage of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin will perform with her husband.
