The Szczecin Brass Quintet, consisting of members of our Symphony Orchestra, has repeatedly presented you with pieces unusual in character from the repertoire of jazz, entertainment and film music. Whenever warmer evenings begin, whenever we plan an open-air event, when Szczecin awakens to life again on roundabouts, squares and boulevards, then Dawid, Tomasz, Katarzyna, Arkadiusz and Łukasz take their instruments shining with gold and present us a new program carefully prepared in various places in the city. It will be no different this year!
However, this time, the Szczecin Brass Quintet will break with the tradition of referring to New Orleans' Dixieland bands and take us on a journey through almost all musical eras. It rarely happens that we have the opportunity to present you a program from the Renaissance to the present day, composed with enthusiasm and taste from real gems of instrumental art. We'll start with Tielman Susato, a 16th-century composer, copyist and publisher based in Antwerp, and end with Michael Kamen, an American artist and arranger who died in 2003.
What's on the way? Handel's most famous suite, ‘Water Music’, and a fragment of Bach's most perfect piece, ‘The Art of Fugue’, as well as works by Barber and Ewald. Every day you see our artists deep on the stage, which is why it is always the happier to meet them face to face. We will also add that they were not idle during the pandemic! The latest albums of the ensemble and its instrumentalists are available at the Philharmonic's online store.
