Dearies, spring has started, and even though it's still wintering outside the window, we feel that something is changing for the better. It was a difficult winter and not because we saw a lot of snow for the first time in several years. We wish you spring optimism and little daily things that will put everyone in the spring mood. It will still be wonderful; it will still be great! It is what Motion Trio wrote to us during the lockdown. Today it is probably safe to say that it is wonderful and great because we will be able to listen to Motion Trio with our Symphony Orchestra online and live in our concert hall!
I have never heard such a harmonious ensemble in my life! – said the most outstanding Polish violinist Wanda Wiłkomirska about Motion Trio, the most famous Polish accordion ensemble. For 15 years, Janusz Wojtarowicz, Marcin Gałażyn and Paweł Baranek have been using all the advantages of the accordion in their work to discover new possibilities of this instrument and change its face. They are laureates of prestigious awards, including the "Polish Oscar" – awards for the best film music at the 41st Gdynia Film Festival. They have performed at countless festivals, from Open'er in Gdynia to the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Hamburg and Oxford Contemporary Music. They collaborated with the Polish and world music scene giants, headed by Krzysztof Penderecki and Bobby McFerrin. Their discography covers thirteen albums.
Our Symphony Orchestra will be conducted that evening by Krzysztof Herdzin – professor and doctor of musical arts, pianist, composer, arranger, conductor, record producer, multi-instrumentalist. As one of the very few, he successfully combines activity in classical, jazz and film music, and pop. He has over 200 CDs to his credit, including 21 original, 19 golden and five platinum records for his work as the arranger. He is the author of the music orchestration of Jan A.P. Kaczmarek for the film "Finding Neverland", awarded with an Oscar in 2005. He performed as a jazzman and chamber musician in Mexico, the USA, Canada, Australia, India, Japan, China, Taiwan, Korea, Turkey, Israel and almost all European countries. He was the first Polish composer to record a monographic album in the famous London Abbey Road Studio and the Academy of St Martin in The Fields orchestra.
