‘It's like driving a pair of BMWs’, noted conductor Michael Schønwandt. Despite their young age, the artists have been part of the international concert world for years. In their performances, they combine passion with sophisticated taste and bravado interpretation.
Lucas and Arthur Junsen born in the Netherlands have been recording exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon since 2010. Their debut album with Beethoven's compositions received platinum status and was awarded the Edison Klassiek Audience Award. In October 2015 they released their recording of Mozart's piano concertos KV365 and KV242 together with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner. The album reached gold status and was listed by Gramophone UK among the fifty most outstanding Mozart recordings in history.
In 2019 alone, they performed, among others with the Philadelphia Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Bruckner Orchester Linz, Orchester National de Lille, Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Dutch Philharmonic Orchestra, SWR Symphonieorchester and Münchener Kammerorchester. The duo performed a recital at the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Zaryadye Hall in Moscow, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Konzerthaus in Vienna and Dortmund.
‘You realize that this is something extraordinary. These are not just two great pianists playing together. They feel each, even the smallest and most individual elements of interpretation.’ concluded Sir Neville Marriner.
