Pure four-voice harmony. This legend of the American jazz scene is recognized all over the world. Almost 50 years spent on stage, 30 released albums and 10 Grammy Awards. The amazing and perfect Manhattan Transfer will perform on stage in the golden concert hall of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, where a masterful combination of genres and styles: jazz, R&B, doo-wop, and bebop will sound.
This vocal group became famous around the world in the late 1970s thanks to the song 'Chanson d'amour'. The status of TMT was confirmed when they received 12 Grammy Award nominations for the 1985 album ‘Vocalese’, which became the second album with the largest number of nominations after the Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’. Since then, they have enjoyed eternal fame as an ensemble, while successfully developing their solo careers. The Manhattan Transfer has been included in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame and awarded the title of American Eagle in recognition of its contribution to American culture and musical heritage.
The Manhattan Transfer collaborated with such musical personalities as Ella Fitzgerald, Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Take 6 and Weather Report. They performed all over the world in music clubs, concert halls and stadiums filled to the brim. They performed, among others at the Palace Theater in London and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
In 2014, Tim Hauser – the founder and leader of the quartet died. Members of The Manhattan Transfer: Cheryl Bentyne, Janis Siegel and Alan Paul decided to continue their musical activity and recorded the 2018 album entitled ‘The Junction’ after Trista Curless had joined the group. On this record, they maintained perfect harmonization of voices, and thanks to cooperation with producer Mervyn Warren, a five-time Grammy winner who cooperated with, among others with Quincy Jones and Boyz II Men, the legendary sound gained freshness and dynamism.
During the concert at the Philharmonic in Szczecin, we will hear songs not only from the last album. It will be an opportunity to hear TMT hits created over the years ... and see that the musicians' professionalism is accompanied by unchanging joy of performing on stage.
