What happens when we combine two trios representing two different music circles? Tri-city musicians associated with the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk decided to check it out. And because three plus three in the music world is still six – a sextet was created.
Fractus Sextet stands for a classical piano trio: originating from Szczecin, Tomasz Jocz – piano, Andrzej Kacprzak – violin, Karol Sokołowski – cello, as well as a trio with a strictly jazz pedigree: Dawid Głowacki – saxophone, clarinet, Beniamin Baczewski – bass guitar, Grzegorz Lewandowski – drums. The ensemble was set up in 2016 and is currently working on its debut album. The musicians try to break the patterns and go beyond the style of one genre, they also enrich the sound of acoustic instruments with electronics. Their first project, Songs Without Words, with the compositions of guitarist Beniamin Baczewski, in its title refers to the romantic works of Felix Mendelssohn, but sounds like a combination of classical music with melodic jazz and various entertainment genres, such as rock and pop.
