A duo of experimenters and improvisers. During the performance at the Philharmonic in Szczecin, the composition for amplified percussion, electronics and chamber ensemble will have its premiere. Cymatics that is the science of acoustic wave shape, dealing with the visual representation of sonic phenomena was an inspiration for the piece.
Teoniki Rożynek and Qba Janicki, appearing in a duet, use "electronic processing of audio signal generated by acoustic instruments". They have an academic education but are far from respecting classical rules. Their joint activities are primarily characterized by improvisation and expression. At the same time, what they create has a specific weight. They performed together, among others at the Wrocław edition of the Avant Art Festival in 2019, as well as at the International Festival of Contemporary Music and Visual Arts "Mózg Festival" in 2018.
Teoniki Rożynek creates instrumental, electroacoustic and electronic music. She moves in the areas of contemporary music, non-academic electronics, and sound design. Her specialities are low sounds, deep sounds, and the music she creates usually tends towards dark visions. She draws inspiration mainly from the surrounding world, she is fascinated by dirty, glitch, often extra-musical sound – the sounds of cars, machines, and animals. As she says: "I like badly recorded things that I can record and use. The mistake is my weird musical obsession." She has a great desire to act in collectives, including composers. She also willingly cooperates with artists active in other fields of art such as performance, film, theatre.
Qba Janicki is a drummer with extraordinary musical imagination and technique. He is also a sound engineer, arranger and producer. The things he creates are characterized by a kind of intensity: they are dense and rich. He creates music for performances, radio drama, for the needs of television and other artists. He has collaborated with Natalia Przybysz, Paulina Przybysz, Anna Rusowicz, Leszek Możdżer, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Sławek Janicki, Jerzy Mazzoll and Vienio. He has played hundreds of concerts and is associated with such bands as Wojtek Mazolewski Quintet, Malediwy with Marek Pospieszalski, Flow Capacitor with Bartłomiej Chmara and Martyna Chojnacka, YO NELLY! with Steven Buchanan. He also performed with symphony orchestras and chamber ensembles.
