During the Friday concert, maestro Penderecki’s “Polymorphia” for 48 string instruments will also be performed. This composition was used in the classic horror films “The Exorcist” and “The Shining”. The musicians will also take us on a journey with pieces of one of the most exquisite composers of film music, John Williams, having over 50 Oscars nominations and 5 golden statuettes to speak of his great success. During the concert we will hear compositions from such films as “E.T.”, “Jaws”, “Jurassic Park” and “Hook”. The second part of the evening features Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Sheherazade”, which is one of the most illustrative pieces in the history of music literature. This story taken from “One Thousand and One Nights” and translated into orchestral language constitutes a film tale perceived through music.
For all of you who would like to be with us but are kilometres away or simply cannot be with us, we will broadcast the concert live on the YouTube channel of the Philharmonic as well as on the website of Radio Szczecin. The first part of the concert will be also broadcast live on Radio Szczecin.
