Baltic Guitar Days is an event devoted to the art of contemporary guitar performance. The most outstanding young performers and experienced masters will present themselves on the stages of Szczecin during the festival concerts. As the part of the music courses, students and teachers have the opportunity to polish their skills. Thanks to the competition, many adepts of this art have a chance to accelerate their careers. We are happy to invite you to the concert of the creator of Baltic Guitar Days – Jakub Kościuszko, who will take us into the amazing world of Harvey Hope's work.
Harvey Hope will be remembered forever as a baroque guitar virtuoso and an unquestionable authority in this field. During his concerts, he gave the audience an extremely rare opportunity to hear instruments that we can only see in museums on a daily basis. He first came to Poland in the early 1990s and returned very often for over twenty years, also performing recitals in Szczecin.
Valued primarily as an excellent instrumentalist, he was also a talented composer. His works are emotional, romantic and romanticizing, charming, personal and picturesque – this is how Jakub Kościuszko, the inhabitant of Szczecin, the graduate of universities in Wrocław and The Hague, speaks about Hope when giving concerts all over Europe for over a decade. In his latest project, he discovers and popularizes the legacy of Harvey Hope. As part of the project, the artist's autobiography and "The Hope Collection" – the catalog of instruments, and the three-disc album "Baroque Guitar" were published posthumously. The arrangements for the songs that will be performed that evening were made by Jakub Zwarycz and Leszek Kołodziejski.
Jakub Kościuszko will be accompanied by the Radom Chamber Orchestra led by Szymon More. He is a lecturer at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, and as a conductor he collaborates with the Polish Radio Orchestra, the Grand Theater in Łódź, the Polish Royal Opera, the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra, the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, and with the Podkarpackie, Koszalin, Baltic and Polish Chamber Philharmonics. Szymon More constantly promotes contemporary music by young Polish composers, performing a number of world premieres.
