Ralph van Daal – oboe


He regularly performs with the Swedish Radio Symphony in Stockholm, the City of Birmingham Symphony, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Staatsoper Hannover, NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Bayerische Staatsoper, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra Hamburg and Hilversum Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Ralph van Daal began learning to play the oboe at the age of 9, and at the age of 17 he entered the Maastricht Conservatory, from which he graduated with honors (2006). He then continued his musical education with Francois Leleux at the University of Music and Theater in Munich, where he obtained his soloist diploma (2009).

For many years he was a regular member of the WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln, the Duisburg Philharmonic and the Hamburg Philharmonic, where he was awarded the Eduard Söring-Preis. During his long career, he has played under the baton of such conductors as Semyon Bychkov, Jukka Pekka Saraste, Andris Nelsons, Daniel Harding, Daniele Gatti, Kent Nagano and Ivan Fischer.

Van Daal often gives masterclasses in Germany, Portugal, Spain, Colombia and the Netherlands. He is also a member of various wind ensembles of the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. He is also a professor at Konservatorium Maastricht and Musikhochschule Düsseldorf.
