Bogusław Jakubowski - clarinet
A clarinetist, a soloist, and a chamber musician. A professor of the Szczecin Academy of Art and a teacher at the ZSM. A graduate of the clarinet class of professor Zdzisław Nowak in Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań. He deepened his knowledge on courses conducted by: E. Bruner (Germany), V. Vitek (the Czech Republic), and M. Stachura. Since 1991, he has been the first clarinetist of the Szczecin Philharmonic. He often performs as a soloist and chamber musician. In 1999, together with B. Szczerkowski and T. Jocz, he won a Grand Prix of the Young Chamber Musicians Contest in Kłodzko. As a soloist, he performed in: Szczecin, Berlin, Hamburg, Moscow, Gdańsk, Sopot, Poznań, Warsaw, Greiswald, Gartz, Kamień Pomorski, Kołobrzeg, and Duszniki Zdrój. He took part in many premieres of Polish composers: Janusz Stalmierski, Marek Jasiński, Zbigniew Kozub, Artur Cieślak, Piotr Klimk, and Waldemar Sutryk. In 2004, he was given a Silver Cross for his accomplishments by the President of Poland. In 2007, he recorded the album ‘The new and forgotten clarinet works of Szczecin composers from the XIXth, XXth, and XXIst centuries’. One year later, he wrote a book with the same title, which also became a subject of his doctoral dissertation. The next album is ‘Niezapominajki’, a musical performance to Anna Frajlich's poems with Waldemar Sutryka’s music (clarinet solo).
He is a member of the Szczecin Philharmonic ‘FeelHarmony Quintet’, as a member of which he recorded an album with classical and contemporary music in 2004. He is an ardent propagator of Polish music. The artist’s most recent discovery is the music by Robert Muczyński, an American composer with Polish roots, whose music can be heard on the album ‘Robert Muczyński in Memoriam’, published in 2017. The album includes, amongst many others, ‘Time Pieces’ op. 43 for clarinet and piano, and ‘Fantasy Trio’ op. 26 for clarinet, cello, and piano.
An important part of his activity is education. His pupils and students take part in many concerts, competitions, and festivals. His student Alicja Korzeniewicz received the Third Prize in the International Cyprus Clarinet Studio. He is also one of the organizers and creators of the events for the young in Szczecin: the West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival, the Wind Instruments Contest ETIUDA, and the March Clarinet Competition.
He also runs classes in the Summer Academy of Wind Instruments in Myśliborz and clarinet courses in Jastrzębie-Zdrój. He is a member of the jury in the academic clarinet competition in Włoszakowice, the West Pomeranian Clarinet Festival, and the March Clarinet Competition.
