Andrew Balio - trumpet
Andrew Balio has been principal trumpet of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra since he was appointed by Yuri Temirkanov in 2002. For the 2014/15 season, he was principal of the Oslo Philharmonic under Vasily Petrenko. He previously served as principal of the Israel Philharmonic 1993-2001 under Zubin Mehta.

Andrew Balio has been a frequent soloist since his earliest days as a student, making his debut at 15 playing Haydn’s Concerto with the Milwaukee Symphony in his home state of Wisconsin. Over the years, he has been appeared as soloist with various orchestras in Europe, the US, South America and Asia under the batons of noted conductors Zubin Mehta, Mario Venzago, Günther Herbig, Yuri Temirkanov, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Nicholas McGegan, Hannu Lintu and Markus Stenz. His Carnegie Hall solo debut was in 2013 with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra with Constantine Orbelian.
In 2014, he founded the first classical music think-tank, futuresymphony.org together with British philosopher Sir Roger Scruton.
