Standing ovation at the Szczecin Philharmonic
The concert hall almost filled to capacity and a standing ovation – this is how the concert of the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra 2024 in the Golden Hall of Szczecin Philharmonic in Szczecin ended. Our young musicians were led by maestro Przemysław Neumann, and the soloist of the evening was the excellent Monika Sawczuk.
Preparations for the concert had been going on since Sunday. ILYO instrumentalists first worked in sectionals, and then, as an orchestra, they prepared the concert program under the supervision of Przemysław Neumann – the conductor of this year's edition of the project. Hard work and long hours spent on rehearsals resulted in a daring performance of works by Bernstein, Penderecki, Lutosławski and Dvorak, which was very much appreciated by the Szczecin audience .
Tickets for the International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra's concert in Szczecin were almost completely sold out. Without much exaggeration, the orchestra, based in the Szczecin Philharmonic since 12 years, has now a loyal audience here. The ensemble, together with the soloist and conductor, have already set off on a journey to Lusławice, where on August 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. they will perform the same programme at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Center for Music.
