The year 2018 and the entire season 2018/2019 is also the time of celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra. I emphasize, first of all, the 70th anniversary of the orchestra, because everything happens thanks to people. Musicians who came here after the war and on October 25, 1948, played their first concert as the Workers’ Music Association – says Dorota Serwa, Managing Director of the Philharmonic.
During the concert on December 14, when the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra combined forces with three choirs and the best soloists the audience could listen to Symphony No. 7 Seven Gates of Jerusalem. It was unique also for other reasons. The concert began with the ceremonial presentation of the Silver Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis for special artistic achievements and cultural activities to the Orchestra. The medal was given to the Orchestra by the Vice-President of the Council of Ministers, Minister of Culture and National Heritage, prof. dr hab. Piotr Gliński, and on his behalf, the medal was physically given by Mrs Anna Kołek, General Director of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship Office in Szczecin.
