We regret to announce that the concert "An Evening of Chamber Music" planned for 20th September as part of the MDF festival will take place without the participation of Philip Glass due to the artist's health problems. Philip Glass was to appear on stage as a pianist, performing his own compositions with violinist Tim Fain and cellist Matt Haimovitz. Thus Philip Glass will be replaced by Maki Namekawa, an acclaimed pianist who has collaborated with the artist for a long time.
In the message sent by the artist's agency, we read:
We regret to announce that due to an upcoming medical procedure, Philip Glass will be unable to travel to Szczecin for the concert scheduled on Sept. 20. Longtime Philip Glass interpreter and acclaimed pianist, Maki Namekawa will be joining Tim Fain and Matt Haimovitz for this performance.
Maki Namekawa is a prominent figure among today's young artists, drawing listeners’ attention to both contemporary and classical music. In 2012, the artist premiered Philip Glass's "20 piano etudes" at the Perth Music Festival. Since then, Namekawa has given many concerts with Philip Glass throughout Europe, the United States and Japan.
The program of the concert "An Evening of Chamber Music" has not changed. The artists: Tim Fain on the violin, Matt Haimovitz on the cello and Maki Namekawa on the piano will perform compositions composed by Philip Glass.
