Apparatjik is a Scandinavian ensemble known for its avant-garde approach to synth-pop sound. Currently, it is made up of: Magne Furuholmen, member and founder of the band "A-ha" (guitarist and keyboardist), Jonas Bjerre from the Danish ensemble "Mew" (vocalist and guitarist) and Martin Terefe (drummer and producer). The ensemble members share not only a unique sound, but also the approach to the possibilities of artistic expression, i.a. through visual arts. You will have a chance to see it for yourself on the final festival day, September 23rd at 19.00 during the concert-performance "A Heroine for our time – the artist Julia Pastrana". It will be the world premiere of the orchestral version of the piece "Heroine of our time," based on musical material for an upcoming opera about the tragic life of Mexican circus artist Julia Pastrana. The story of a peculiar woman with a beard, her fate and loneliness will be told by music and light images created jointly by Apparatjik, the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, and Concha Buika – a Spanish vocalist and composer.
Fans of unusual artistic experiences cannot miss the improvised visual-music performance of beatboxer Beardyman. In the final part of the concert, the artist will use a set which features sequences from a variety of musical genres. Beardyman is a British artist, a two-time British Beatbox Champion, "pseudo-DJ", "youtube superstar", as well as a producer and a cabaret performer creating live compositions that have been inspired by viewers' prompts. According to the BBC he is the "king of sound and a minister of beat." The artist will present his skill on the third day of the MDF festival on 21st September at 21.00 in the lobby of the Philharmonic in Szczecin.
