Premiere of Włodek Pawlik's new album
On June 24th 2016 there will be the Polish premiere of Włodek Pawlik's new symphonic and jazz album. He is the only Polish Grammy Award winner. The entire album entitled “ Włodek Pawlik – 4 Works 4 Orchestra” will be presented in full during the premiere concert at the Philharmonic in Szczecin on June 26th 2016.
It is a unique collection of my compositions whose main distinguishing feature is the setting – widely understood contemporary music, classical (with elements of jazz) and improvised music. I hope it creates a homogeneous whole, showing my lesser known image as a composer – says Włodek Pawlik.
Take 6 – the geniuses of voice
10 time Grammy Awards winners – Take 6 is one of the most well known and talented vocal groups in the world. For over 20 years in their career they have performed at the most famous music festivals. The have cooperated with Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Al Jarreau and Queen Latifah. Not only are their outstanding vocal skills the quintessence of their success, but also the values they share – faith, friendships, respect and love of music. Six geniuses of voice – Claude McKnight, Mark Kibble, Joel Kibble, Dave Thomas, Alvin Chea and Khristian Dentley, move freely between various musical genres: from soul through gospel, R&B to pop.
Take 6 have come a long way since their first rehearsals at the Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, where Claude McKnight created the group The Gentleman’s Estate Quartet. At the beginning of their career they were singing traditional gospel songs. Their debut album “Take 6” was released in 1988 by Warner Bros. During the last couple of years, they have performed at the biggest jazz festivals in the world with success. They will perform at the Philharmonic on June 28th.
Al Jarreau Duo
The outstanding American jazz vocalist, improviser and seven-time Grammy award winner will perform on July 1st at the Philharmonic in Szczecin. His interpretation of the well-known tune “Take Five” by Dave Brubeck has been loved by fans all around the world and is still a song world audiences demand during his concerts.
“Depending on his musical mood of the moment, Al can pump out percussion sounds to rival the layered textures and upbeat swing of a full drum kit. He can simulate the sounds of horns, scat sing through complex chord changes and tricky rhythmic meters with an unstoppable flow of ideas.”
Now 76 years old, Jarreau is not only a great musician but also an outstanding stage artist. He always talks with his fans during the shows and enjoys the company of the band, creating a fantastic atmosphere on stage. All this makes a great lively atmosphere at his concerts, which become forever remembered.
