In addition, the artworks of artists such as Jesper Just, Bogna Burska or Kristian Skylstad will bring us closer to the issue of minimalism in art and present them from many non-obvious and broad perspectives. There will also be a unique concert for families prepared with students with disabilities, discussion panels with distinguished guests or traditional shows of the building's illumination. The fourth edition of the festival will be inaugurated by a compositional performance by Paweł Mykietyn – one of the most outstanding creators of contemporary music. The artist was inspired by the architecture of the Philharmonic building in Szczecin, awarded in 2015 with the Mies van der Rohe. In his premiere work, he will take up the challenge of transferring the idea of simplicity and accessibility into the field of musical work. The composition, lasting about an hour, will be based on a game of musical form, timbre and architectural space.
Inaugural concert | MYKIETYN will be held on September 22 at 20:00 in the Lobby. Tickets (40/30 PLN) are available on the EVENT PAGE and at the Ticket Office.
The first day of the festival is also when the Philharmonic building will start the festival's illumination show, which will last until Sunday. Bartosz Wójcicki PuH from Pushka Studio will be responsible for the whole. We invite you to the illumination shows every day until September 26 at 20:50.

Also, on Thursday, September 23 at We invite you to the opening of the exhibition "Little whirlpool in the middle of the ocean", the title of which refers to the legendary minimalist composition "Composition 1960 No." 15" by La Monte Young. Stanisław Ruksza – curator, compiled six works by exceptional artists: Bogna Burska, Rafał Jakubowicz, Jesper Just, Magda Malinowska, Patrycja Orzechowska, Kristian Skylstad and Andrzej Wasilewski. At first glance, the works may seem far from minimalism, or they may be critical of the commercial abuse of this aesthetic. Still, each refers to the "rules" regulating the "grammar" of the works or those based on minimal art.
The exhibition's opening, "Little whirlpool in the middle of the ocean", will start on September 23 at 20:00 in the Level 4 Gallery. Admission is free.

September 25 – Erik Satie's interpretations, musical therapy, relaxation zone and illumination shows
Saturday will begin at high noon with the AUTYPODY family therapy concert. The script and music were created during a workshop with the students of the Public Special Primary School No. 52 in Szczecin.
The name 'Autypody' refers to the geographical location of blue glow worms – fluorescent insects found in Australian and New Zealand caves. To enter the caves where they occur, strict rules related to movement, acoustics and other factors that could disturb the harmony of their natural environment must be observed. This unique hypersensitivity to external factors will serve as an allegory to approximate the susceptibility of autistic people to various stimuli and make them sensitive to their perceptions.
AUTYPODY – music therapy will take place on September 25 at noon. Tickets (PLN 20/10) are available on the EVENT PAGE and at the box office.
On Saturday evening, a group of Szczecin Philharmonic musicians forming the ÉxQuartet ensemble, with the Szczecin pianist Patryk Matwiejczuk, will undertake an original reinterpretation of Erik Satie's musical thoughts, whose moodiness, coherent structure and simple melody were perceived by many as a protoplastic form of ambient. The group will also present two premiere compositions written by violinist Łukasz Górewicz and violist Grzegorz Sadowski.
The ÉxQuartet & Patryk Matwiejczuk concert will take place on September 25 at 20:00. Tickets (PLN 20/10) are available on the EVENT PAGE and at the box office.
The concert will also be broadcast on YOUTUBE and FACEBOOK.
September 26 – the grand finale with the orchestra, relaxation zone and illumination shows
On Sunday at 19:00 in the Symphony Hall, the festival's grand finale will take place, during which we will hear the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of the talented and open conductor, Jonathan Stockhammer.
The concert will focus on minimalist, repetitive music in its various forms. The composers' individual approach to understanding minimalism as a trend and idea takes the form of a spiritual asceticism (Arvo Part) on the one hand and an energetic and intense, and sometimes mechanical perpetual motion machine (John Adams) on the other. These are also moving sounds and disturbing in their repetition (Tomasz Sikorski), giving relief or a kind of optimistic finale (Michael Nyman). We hope that the concert repertoire will end the thesis about the one-dimensional and exhaustive nature of minimalist music.
Concert PÄRT | SIKORSKI | ADAMS | NYMAN will take palce on September 26 at 19:00. Tickets (55/25 PLN) can be obtained on the EVENT PAGE and at the box office. The event will also be broadcast online on the livefilharmonia.szczecin.pl platform.
