The Philharmonic has prepared for you a series of events that will make summer evenings more pleasant and allow you to fully enjoy the time free from everyday duties.
On July 5th, the Philharmonic will traditionally celebrate the birthday of Szczecin. On this day, there are
two premieres waiting for our listeners – the first part of the
Weiss Video Orchestra concert (to be continued on July 24th) and an extremely lively performance of a piece by
Leo Brouwer recorded during the jubilee concert of Jorge Luis Valcarcel Gregorio. Both free premieres will take place on the Philharmonic's Facebook and YouTube channels.
Film music
It will be possible to move into the world of film music on
July 9th during a concert by
Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz – the author of music for such paintings as "Pokot", "In Darkness" or Burning Bush. ”The winner of many prestigious awards and distinctions will personally conduct the Szczecin Philharmonic this evening. The free premiere will take place on Facebook and YouTube.
On July 23, we will hear true American classics of both the big and silver screen. The Symphony Orchestra performing compositions by
Aaron Copland and Karl Jenkins will be conducted by a special guest from Norway,
Torodd Wigum. The concert that day will appear on the
LiveFilhamronia.szczecin.pl platform.
The Szczecin Brass Quintet, consisting of members of the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, has many times presented the pieces of unusual character from the repertoire of jazz, entertainment and film music. The band's new program will be available on
July 10th, during a free premiere on Facebook and Youtube.
More jazz!
We will start the second month of holidays with a strong jazz accent. On
August 6th, a concert by
Asaf will appear on the
LiveFilharmonia.szczecin.pl platform. The recently reactivated jazz acoustic quartet will provide music lovers with material from their latest, very well-received album entitled "Silent prayer".
On
August 12th,
the Szczecin Philharmonic Big Band will perform to the audience gathered in the symphony hall. The group, accompanied by distinguished guests:
Maciej Sikała (the saxophone), Robert Majewski (the trumpet) and Cezary Konrad (the drums), will present the greatest hits of world jazz.
Opening the Level 4 Gallery
On
August 4th, the Level 4 Gallery will be open. The first exhibition after the break will be an exhibition of works by
Małgorzata Szymankiewicz and Paweł Książek. "Gesture Strategies".
Visiting the most beautiful building in Europe
On
May 8th 2015 the building of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin received the Mies van der Rohe Award, the most important architectural award in Europe and one of the most prestigious in the world. Summer holidays are the best time to visit the symbol of Szczecin.
