The Polish-German ONLINE conference: EduPhilharmonics – new challenges in music therapy opened the first edition of the I Hear Good Sounds Festival. We still have five days ahead of us, filled with the events to which we are happy to invite whole families.
The difficult time of isolation was a moment for the Philharmonic to redefine our role, as not only an institution that provides good sounds in the form of concerts, but also the institution that can inspire and, above all, take up important topics – emphasized Dorota Serwa, director of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, during the opening of the conference.
In the first block of the conference, the experts working with mental health clinics and psychiatric clinics were speaking. In the next part, the conclusions of their work were presented by psychotherapists specializing in music therapy and art therapy. The summary was a panel discussion on the role of cultural institutions in the implementation of pro-health activities and supporting tasks in the field of art therapy.
We are in a new world a little bit. The youth has faced situations that had never happened before. In music therapy, children with various mental problems can express themselves and their emotions. Children with autism spectrum disorders and intellectual disabilities are often unable to express what they feel. We can reach them through music and help in the therapy – admits Małgorzata Wyrębska-Rozpara from the Mental Health Clinic for Children and Youth in SPSZOZ "ZDROJE" hospital.

What does Szczecin sound like? – vernissage, Gallery by the Orthodox Church, 5.00 p.m.
Young and adult artists working in the art groups of the Polish Association of the Deaf – West Pomeranian Branch will take us to the world of emotions and feelings they have painted. The world where sound is only the domain of the imagination. Some of the works are literal – we will see the sea shore, people hurrying down the street, buildings and parks. Others will require us to use our imagination to see the Szczecin wind or feel a handshake.
June10th (Thursday)
Visiting the Philharmonic
1:00 PM – guided tour in sign language
3:00 PM – guided tour with audio description

We will feel the secrets of the building, places that are inaccessible every day, architectural tastes and amazing atmosphere with various senses. Together, we will discover how much more a building, hailed as an icon of contemporary culture, can show us!
June 11th (Friday)
The Elements – concert with the audience, symphony hall, 7.00 pm
"Elements" is a project combining music and ecology, the basis of which is an hour-long symphonic poem by Paweł Pudło. It is a musical story about the forces of nature that create the world around us. Earth, water, air, fire and humanity. The symbolism of the elements was used in the project due to its universal recognition, simple association with nature and the possibility of the metaphorical, artistic reflection of the processes taking place in the environment
June 12th (Saturday)
The Little Town of Good Sounds – happening in the hall, at 12.00
In the very heart of Szczecin, in the hall of the Philharmonic, the most beautiful building in Europe, we will create a new urban zone of harmony. Hearing tests, workshops, concerts and other pleasures – all these will be waiting for us in the Little Town of Good Sounds
- IN A GOOD TONE STREET (the foyer of the symphonic hall)
Shopping doesn't have to be associated with the noise. The fans of good sounds will be able to buy our CDs and books in the Good Tone Shop with a 20% discount. Opening hours: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- THE AVENUE OF GOOD HEARING (foyer of the symphony hall)
Check how your hearing sense is doing! The partner of the I Hear Good Sounds campaign – Medincus Speech and Hearing Center – invites you to a hearing screening test. In addition, the specialists will answer all bothering questions about hearing prophylaxis. The examination can be performed between 12:00 and 2:30 PM
- SOUND ECOLOGY SQUARE (Philharmonic Hall)
Our next partner – the ecological cosmetics company Clochee – will have a stand in the town. We will be able to transform rubbish into toys there, take part in the charity campaign to save lynxes from Dzika Zagroda in Jabłonowo and draw something for them. The stand is open from 12:00 to 4:00 PM
• WHAT'S HEARING STREET? (Philharmonic Hall)
On this street, the festival sponsor will be waiting for us – DEMANT, the company dealing with hearing care. In addition to the curiosities about the sense of hearing, which you will be able to find out at the stand, you will find some great gadgets and the company's mascot – Doggy D., with whom our youngest listeners will be able to take a picture of themselves, give a high five and ask "what's up?". The stand is open from 12:00 to 4:00 PM
Hearing prevention is very important. Protection against noise prevents permanent hearing damage and allows you to maintain healthy hearing for longer - says Anna Dąbrowska, MD, PhD, head of the branch of the West Pomeranian Hearing and Speech Center MEDINCUS in Szczecin.
During the festival, we want to teach our patients how to protect and care for our ears. Wearing ear muffs in a very noisy environment, turning the volume down and getting used to hearing quieter sounds are just some of the protection measures. It is important to have a hearing test, and it will be possible to do it for free during the Festival – she adds.
June 13th (Sunday)
Econcert – the depth of sea silence – family concert with the audience / free online broadcast, symphony hall, Facebook, YouTube, 5pm.
The grand finale of the "I Hear Good Sounds" Festival! We run away from the noisy city to the most magnificent, best in terms of the sound, the most pleasant, the most picturesque sea! In the city rankings, it is not without reason that Szczecin is indicated as the most maritime city in Poland (yes! In the rankings we beat Gdańsk by 10%!).
