He just turned 12 and has a malignant brain tumor. A dramatic fight against time for Wiktor's life continues. Until May 17th, the closest people of a young citizen of Szczecin have to collect a colossal sum of money to cover the costs of treatment in the USA. We dedicate the upcoming premieres of Raniutto and DoNuta to Wiktor, and we also hand over our publications for the auction. We keep our fingers crossed so that we can meet in person at the Philharmonic.
Over the last six months, twelve-year-old Wiktor's world has turned into a constant struggle for life. In November 2020 he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After careful examination, he was diagnosed with pineoblastoma – a very rare, rapidly growing and highly malignant brain tumor, characterized by the WHO classification as a stage IV tumor.
There is only one place in the world where Wiktor has a chance to recover once and for all – St. Louis in the United States. The doctors have developed a method of treating this type of tumors there, which – according to medical publications of research results – gives as much as 85% chances of a complete cure.
The therapy is based on administering high doses of targeted chemistry, with the earlier collection and then transplantation of stem cells from the bone marrow. When the chemistry destroys the entire body, cells are able to rebuild it. The process is repeated up to three times. The cost of the therapy is $ 2.2 million.
There is very little time to collect this amount of money. Therefore, the Mieczyslaw Karlowicz Philharmonic decided to join the fight for life and donates some of the publishing houses to auctions, the benefits from the auctions will be donated to cover the costs of treatment.
We also dedicated our upcoming premieres of Raniutto and DoNuta to Wiktor.
Each of us can help, every gesture and every initiative counts. On behalf of our relatives and the entire Philharmonic Group, we would like to thank you and we are keeping our fingers crossed.
