The double bass player of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Orchestra is about to record an album with the pieces of Polish composers for the double bass with the piano accompaniment. The project can be implemented thanks to the scholarship from the Young Poland Program implemented by the Ministry of Culture, National Heritage and Sport

Karol Nasiłowski is the soloist and the leader of the double bass group in our orchestra. He also teaches the double bass class at the Instrumental Department of the Academy of Art in Szczecin. He is the laureate of many national and international competitions as well.
He performs both as a soloist and a chamber musician. He took part in such festivals as BBC Proms (London), Ultimo (Oslo), Fjord Cadenza (Norway), Chopin Festival (New York).
He conducts the courses for double bass players, both soloist and orchestral. (International Lutosławski Youth Orchestra). He cooperates with The Castle Orchestra in Szczecin, Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, Polish Radio Orchestra, Concerto Avenna, Polish Sinfonia Iuventus Orchestra in Warsaw, Prussian Chamber Orchestra, Danish National Chamber Orchestra, Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2017, he has been the president of the board of the Zone for Music lover foundation, whose activity is based on creating cultural initiatives, mainly in Szczecin.
Thanks to the scholarship, our double bass player will have an amazing opportunity to record an album with works by Polish composers. The recording will include the following compositions:
- Walerian Gniot - a sonata for the double bass and the piano
- Stefan Bolesław Poradowski – 3 caprices for the double bass
- Stefan Bolesław Poradowski - a romance for the double bass and the piano (an arrangement for the double bass and a string quintet)
- Jan Kolasiński - 3 pieces for the double bass and the piano (an arrangement for the double bass and a string quintet)
- Janusz Stalmierski -a Lonely Tree for the double bass and the piano
Worth mentioning is the sonata by Walerian Gniot, written before the Second World War, and yet no one decided to record this beautiful piece - emphasizes Karol Nasiłowski - All the compositions mentioned in this project present totally different views of the double bass in Poland over almost a hundred years. – from pre-war, post-war and modern times.
907 applications were submitted to the 18th edition of the Young Poland Program. 116 people were awarded with the scholarship by decision of the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport. The program is designed for the young artists who have outstanding achievements in the field of their art – film, photography, literature, music, visual arts, dance or theater. The scholarship can be used for the realization of one's own artistic project, the purchase of the equipment necessary for work, for studying and foreign residency
