Atom String Quartet and Szczecin Philharmonic
Atom String Quartet was founded in 2010 in Warsaw. Since winning the Grand Prix XIII Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa in 2011, the band has been a regular guest at the world's largest music festivals. The band is created by: Dawid Lubowicz, Mateusz Smoczyński, Michał Zaborski and Krzysztof Lenczowski.
Atom String Quartet is currently a leading Polish jazz band and one of the most interesting string quartets in the world. The ensemble combines the possibilities of a string quartet with broadly understood improvisation. The multiple performances of the band at the Philharmonic in Szczecin have always been very popular. Therefore, everyone was more than happy when the artists agreed to prepare
Mieczysław Karłowicz's pieces in new arrangements and then record them with the musicians of the Szczecin Symphony Orchestra.
Mieczysław Karłowicz, at the age of 20, wrote 29 songs for voice and piano to the poems of Young Poland poets. 22 of them have survived to this day.
These songs, in new, surprising and jazz arrangements, will be on the next album of the Atom String Quartet, recorded together with
the Szczecin Philharmonic Wind Quartet.
The CD "Karłowicz Recomposed" is now available on streaming services.

Karłowicz inspires
Songs by Mieczysław Karłowicz is one of those collections which, despite their small size, are of great importance not only for the history of music, but also for countless artists and listeners. Originally written for the voice and the piano, they are a bridge between Romanticism and Young Poland – one of the most beautiful adventures of Polish culture in the 20th century.
Mieczysław Karłowicz himself is today the patron of the Philharmonic in Szczecin, where his work is cherished, like in no other place in Poland.
The songs, although nostalgic, inspire new artists visiting the Philharmonic – also members of the Atom String Quartet. The effects of the work of the band and the Szczecin Philharmonic will surely appeal to both fans of "Atoms" and the work of Karłowicz.
The album of the Atom String Quartet and the Szczecin Philharmonic Wind Quartet – "Karłowicz Recomposed" – is now available on the largest streaming services.
